Audit Reveals Repeat Issues in Jersey City Schools’ $1B Budget Amid Transparency Concerns
With property taxes rising and questions swirling around how the district manages its $1 billion budget, the long-anticipated Jersey City Public Schools audit was presented at last night’s board meeting, drawing close attention from both the public and trustees.
While the audit did not uncover any outright fraud or misuse of funds, it outlined 19 areas for improvement, missing contracts and inaccurate payroll records to outdated asset inventories and unrecorded expenses.
